Thoughts
Bonjour! How is everybody's reading of the Odyssey coming along? I know that we all have classes and what not and that should and probably is everyone's number one priority but keep in mind that we have until the 15th of October to finish the reading for this book. At that point in time the next person will have chosen the book that we will be reading next.
Financially we may be a little short but there are many methods of obtaining your book at little or no cost at all. Barnes & Noble usually has there line of B&N classics at a reasonable price of about $5 or so. If you are a B&N member you can also obtain a discount! Some bookstores may have used books at a much lesser price or you can hit up a thrift shop for books under $2. That may require more of a hunt but you might come across some other titles that might interest you. Last but not least there is always your local public library or the library at your school. Lets take advantage of the resources we have available!
Finally I just wanted to let you all know that you are free to post on to this blog!! You don't only have to post comments. It doesn't matter if this isn't the book you have chosen for this month. I hope you all continue enjoying your reading and questions will be posted before the weekend.
Ciao!

Welcome!
Judging on the amount of time that we have left until we begin reading "The Odyssey" I presume that many of you have obtained your copy of the book or are in the works of getting one. If you do already have it then great and if not jump on it homies!
Just a back story as to how we got the name "Los Bookies." As we sat in our booth at Mel's, Gilmer brought up the idea of also doing movie discussions/reviews. We agreed that it would be a great idea and so our next step was deciding on a name when it hit me like a bolt of lightning. Books and movies put together...hence, Los Bookies was born. Perhaps it was the Juan Gabriel we were bumping on the way to dinner or maybe it was the Marco Antonio Solis we so passionately felt within our very souls on the drive over for dessert. Whatever the case, as soon as the words left my mouth we knew that we had found the most proper name for our newly initiated book/movie club.
I encourage you all to take this opportunity to not only read great works of literature and watch awe inspiring films but to really see beyond what we are reading and watching and please let your opinions be heard.
Here's to the start of an odyssey that we shall embark on.
P.S. Can I get a hell yeah? Haha.
